You may be looking into skilled care, rehabilitation, or memory care options for the first time or considering a change of facility for a loved one. Regardless of how often you’ve done your research, it can feel stressful and overwhelming. Searching online, collecting referrals, poring over reviews, scheduling tours, and following up when emails go unanswered all keep your long to-do list even longer while you care for your loved one.
We want to make learning about the Restoracy easy. That’s why we asked Drew, Alice, Andi, and Jason to share about their experiences.
Choosing the Restoracy
It can feel like there are plenty of options for care with thousands of search results and a facility around every corner. The World Health Organization projects that 1 in 6 people worldwide will be 60 years old or older by 2030. This means the demand for skilled care, senior rehabilitation, and memory care services will only continue to grow. Combined with high turnover rates for skilled care staff at facilities, it’s increasingly difficult to find quality care where loved ones will be safe, well nourished, and engaged.
What aspect of care at the Restoracy made the biggest impression?
Larger facilities present some unique challenges for senior residents. Long, intimidating hallways can keep some residents isolated because they fear getting lost or not having the energy to make it to shared spaces for meals or activities with their friends and neighbors. Semi-private rooms maximize the number of residents a facility can accommodate while sacrificing privacy and the dignity of residents. Greater resident to CNA ratios mean residents wait longer to have their questions answered or needs met, including receiving hot meals.
Access to a private room and hot meals is top of mind for Drew, current resident at the Restoracy, while the intimate, small-home setting is one of the top benefits for Andi and Alice, whose mom Peg is a resident in the memory care home. Drew chose the Restoracy after living in a different facility. He shared, “I was able to get a private room on Medicaid. I was in a shared room before – and the food is hot!” He added that he often faced long wait times for call lights to be answered along with cold food, or sometimes skipped meals.
Jason shared that the overall quality of the Restoracy made the drive from Cincinnati worth it when his mom needed rehabilitation care. The Restoracy’s outstanding resident to caregiver ratios (6:1), on-site prepared meals, and engaging activities and family events create an environment where residents and families feel cared for and comfortable. Andi shared her experience of the environment, “Homey, welcoming, comfortable, clean. I love the decorations for the seasons and holidays – also love the back porch.”
Did you explore other care options?
Drew experienced care at another facility prior to calling the Restoracy home while Andi and Alice used the Restoracy for respite care from time to time. Speaking of the research they did, Alice said, “We looked at around ten different facilities, when it became clear we would have to place her in a place with a higher level of care provided.” With Andi adding, “We did consider other facilities. However our number one option was always the Restoracy. Mom had stayed there for respite several times and we had been really happy with her care during respite. We liked the size of it. The concept of separate houses. We like it is not owned by a big company.”
Admission and Onboarding at the Restoracy
Making the transition to skilled care, rehabilitation, or memory care brings questions, concerns, and a lot of emotions for everyone. Some residents fear they’re losing their freedom and independence. Rehabilitation patients may worry that instead of returning home, they’ll need to go into skilled care instead. Families, too, have concerns about how well their loved one will adjust to the transition.
Many steps need to be completed before a resident moves in and in the first few weeks of their stay. From transferring medical records to holding a care meeting and ensuring a smooth transition, the Restoracy team prepares families and new residents welcoming all with compassion and patience.
How was the admission and onboarding process?
Andi shared, “[Admission and onboarding] was very smooth and not overwhelming in an already overwhelming situation…we felt comfortable and informed. Molly was very communicative with us and still continues to be when any questions arise.” Alice added, “Admission felt pretty simple and straightforward with room for us to have our own specific needs met. I felt like they were attentive to our needs and specific things we addressed in the care meeting.”
Restoracy Outstanding Experiences
Many senior care facilities are owned and operated by large corporations and the owners of the Restoracy are all too familiar with these care models. The vision behind the Restoracy model is personal. Restoring health, dignity, and familiarity is the north star for everyone, from executive leaders to CNAs caring for residents every day.
Every day, the Restoracy homes smell like home. Residents wake up to the smell of fresh brewed coffee with breakfast and gather to talk with their cook over the mouthwatering scents of savory dishes at dinner – all served in an inviting dining room that encourages socializing.
What do you think people need to know about the Restoracy?
Nutritious and appealing meals are essential to seniors’ overall well-being. But making meals that both meet the nutritional needs of residents and are appetizing poses a challenge in some facilities. That’s why Drew enthusiastically answered, “The food is good and the food is hot!”
Concerns about the quality of care are a top priority for all families seeking care for aging loved ones. Andi shared, “It’s a great facility. I trust the ownership and staff. I don’t have to worry about the care mom is receiving.” With our low ratio of residents to caregivers and with only 12 residents per home, every senior at the Restoracy receives the personalized care, attention, and compassion they deserve and the team members caring for them remain steady, familiar faces.
